The border towns of Cerbère and Portbou developed around the railway linking France and Spain. This infrastructure shaped the territory over time. As exchanges reorganized, the intensity of passage shifted to other routes.
Between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, the border is still there. Activity has receded, human presence grown sparse. Traces remain. Forms wear away.
